If you are experiencing vibration or shaking from your steering wheel, or excessive tyre wear it is likely that you have fallen victim to the ‘pothole plague’ or your wheel has become bent in some way. Out of shape wheels will not only destroy your tyres but the vibrations can cause serious damage to both the steering and suspension components of your vehicle.
Using our hydraulically assisted wheel straightening equipment we can straighten the vast majority of buckles and out of shape wheels. Our methods include heat, hydraulic rams and precise measurement gauges.
Cracked alloy wheels are increasingly becoming a problem. Although all wheels can sustain cracks from the shock of driving over pot holes, up curbs and speed bumps, larger size alloys which require tyres to have lower-profile sidewalls are more susceptible to cracks or hairline fractures.
If needed we are able to repair the damaged area. We can weld both sides of the alloy wheel which will then be passed to a lathe operative in order for the welded area to be machined back to create a seamless finish.
A diamond cut finish is becoming increasingly popular nowadays especially on high spec vehicles. You can recognise a diamond cut finish by looking for a shiny bare metal effect on the wheel, often in combination with a painted colour surface. Diamond cutting is sometimes referred to as diamond polishing as the process produces a highly polished metal effect, the faces of the wheels are very shiny almost like the back of a CD
The diamond cut finish is achieved by first painting the wheel with the desired colour then we use a specialised wheel turning lathe with a diamond tipped cutter. At Wheel Fix we have state of the art computerised machines that can handle wheels up to 28″ in size, this enables us to cut wheels that many other companies will not attempt.
Powder coating is an advanced finishing process that creates a resilient and durable finish, it is used by manufacturers when wheels are first produced. It is extensively used in industrial finishing for a wide range of products where a durable and protective coating is required. For example Brake Callipers, Bike frames and many other metals parts.
The process uses a paint powder Which is electrostatically charged and sprayed onto the part, then cooked onto the wheel using a 200 degree oven. Once finished a very hard surface similar to ceramic is fused to the metal of the alloy wheel.
